LOADSTAR 128 LIBRARY APPENDER
Program and Text by Fender Tucker
We used to have a LOADSTAR 128 Briefs similar to the Briefs on LOADSTAR
64 but I dropped it a year or so ago because it took up quite a bit of disk
space. The only useful program in it was the APPENDER for the LOADSTAR
LIBRARY. Last issue I updated the LIBRARY file and made it work beyond
issue #32, which I thought might be the last issue. Now that we know
better, I can imagine that some of you will want to keep the LIBRARY
updated. This Q&D program will do it for you.
You will need the LIBRARY from LOADSTAR 128 #32. The program will
prompt you each time you need to insert a disk but here's the sequence
anyway:
(1) Run "append 33" from the menu for LS 128 #33.
(2) Insert the disk with the file "128 ls" on it and press RETURN. This
file was on Side One of LS 128 #32, but you may have copied it off to
another disk. The file will be loaded into memory.
(3) Insert LS 128 #33 Side One which has the file "lib 33" on it and press
RETURN. This file will be loaded into memory right after the first file.
(4) Insert the disk with LOADSTAR 128 LIBRARY on it and press RETURN. This
may or not be LS 128 #32 Side One, depending on whether you have copied the
LIBRARY onto another disk or not. A new "128 ls" file will be written to
the disk.
That's it. Now when you run LIBRARY it will be updated with the files
from LS 128 #33. I wish I could have simply instructed you to append "lib
33" to "128 ls" but there are a couple of extra bytes on "128 ls" and
simple appending wouldn't work.
Next issue I'll probably have a very similar program for updating the
LIBRARY for LS 128 #34.
